Established in 2015, Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT) is an initiative under the friendship project between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India. Located in Mandalay, Myanmar and with a focused objective to transform higher education in Myanmar, MIIT is home to students from across the nation. Offering undergraduate programmes in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), it is a place for young minds to experience a transformative journey through learning.

MIIT offers admissions to various programmes to applicants solely on the basis of merit. One of the elements considered for admission is the academic performance of the applicant in the qualifying educational programme/qualifying exam. For admission to the bachelor’s degree programmes, it is the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, that is, the Matriculation Exam of Myanmar. For admission to the master’s degree programmes, the applicant’s academic performance in the corresponding bachelor’s degree programme will be one of the elements that are considered.

Philosophy

The academic philosophy of MIIT draws heavily from the success of the academic programmes offered by the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), the mentor institution of MIIT. This philosophy centers around a broad-based curriculum and an integrated system of education which lays a great emphasis on a strong foundation of mathematics, sciences, engineering sciences, and communication skills, and an interdisciplinary approach to education.
