The Master of Engineering (M.E) programme in Computer Science (CS) is a full-time degree programme. This programme is designed to be flexible, modern, and rigorous, along the lines of successful higher degree programmes of International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) and other universities of international repute, and aligned with recommendations of bodies such as IEEE and ACM. This programme is suitable for candidates aspiring to prepare themselves for a doctoral degree programme, or for a career in the IT industry.
Input Qualifications
The following are the minimum eligibility requirements for admission to the M.E. programme in CS:
- B.E. (Hons.) degree of MIIT.
- Bachelor’s degree offered by Universities of Computer Studies/Computer Universities of Myanmar
- Bachelor’s degree offered by Technology Universities in Myanmar in the areas of Computers, IT, Electronics, and Mechatronics
- Bachelor’s degree in Computers, IT, Electronics, and Mechatronics from recognised universities outside Myanmar that are equivalent to the degrees offered by MIIT and other universities in Myanmar
Duration of the Programme
The curriculum of the programme is for a notional duration of 3 years (6 semesters). Students with a B.E. (Hons.) degree from MIIT will receive credit transfers and require a minimum of 68 credits. Students from other universities may also receive credits based on their transcript of performance in the bachelor’s degree programme. The final credit count cannot be lower than 68 credits, involving 4 semesters.
Application Process
Admissions to the M.E. programme in computer science will be done on the basis of merit of the candidate. Three main criteria for evaluating the merit of the candidate will be:
- Performance in the computer-based entrance exam
- Transcript of performance in the bachelor’s degree programme
- A personal interview
Fees
The fees for the students will be as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
