The 20^th and the 21^st centuries are, in some sense, unique because almost all the major events in it were captured as images, voice recordings, or ‘video’. The explosion of print media, cinema, and literature also provides corroborative evidence of social concerns at every point. This means that, at a high level, evidence is relatively objective. History then moves from speculation to perspective. 

This course presents a set of events that greatly influenced and impacted the first two decades of the 21st century. The course aims to present world history in the 21^st century from various perspectives – such as forms of governments, economic and social organisations, and the main events of the 20^th and 21^st centuries that have impacted the world at large – and enable the learner to assess the impact of these events on the individual, communities, and the entire human race.

No text book is prescribed for this course. Study material will consist of presentations used during the sessions, links to websites, specific videos, and other reading material.
