The bachelor’s degree programmes offered by MIIT consist of a strong foundation in the basic physical sciences, including chemistry. In order to ensure that the students are able to try out their lessons in the lab, MIIT has a well-equipped chemistry laboratory. The lab has all the equipment that is necessary for conducting basic chemical experiments. This set-up includes (but is not limited to):
- Erlenmeyer flasks
- Florence flasks
- Crucibles – sintered and silica
- Graduated cylinders, volumetric flasks
- Burets and clamping stands
- Ring stands, tripods, fire clay triangle, rings, and clamps
- Thermometers, balances, Bunsen burners
- Temperature-controlled hot plates
- Hot air ovens
- Vacuum suction pumps
- Melting point apparatus
- Magnetic stirrer, ultrasonic bath
- Digital pH meter
- Digital potentiometer
- Digital colorimeter
- Glass, calomel, carbon, platinum electrodes
Safety of the students is an important concern for the administration. Therefore, while using the lab, all students are expected to adhere to safety regulations, like using safety goggles, silicone gloves, and shoes, and wearing their lab coats.
The Chemistry Laboratory has been installed with support from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of the Republic of India.
